Core services

Six service lines that cover the full distance from a technical question to a system running on site and a product with a market behind it.

Service 01

High-Tech and Industrial Consultancy

Technical guidance on industrial system architecture, manufacturing processes, equipment integration, process optimisation, scale-up and commercial deployment.

We work alongside engineering and operations teams as an independent technical counterpart — reviewing designs, challenging assumptions, and converting a broad intention into a specified, costed and buildable configuration.

  • System & plant architecture — layout, utilities, process flow and integration constraints
  • Manufacturing process design — line configuration, throughput, quality and yield levers
  • Equipment integration — specification, vendor evaluation and interface definition
  • Process optimisation — bottleneck analysis, energy intensity and utilisation improvement
  • Scale-up & deployment — pilot-to-production planning, risk register and staged rollout

Service 02

Carbon Capture and Mineralisation Solutions

Feasibility assessment, preliminary engineering and modular design support for carbon capture and permanent CO₂ mineralisation systems, including the use of suitable alkaline mineral streams and industrial residues.

Mineralisation converts captured CO₂ into stable carbonates. The carbon is fixed in solid form, the storage is permanent by chemistry rather than by containment, and in many cases the resulting material has a construction or filler use of its own.

  • Source characterisation — flue gas composition, flow, temperature and duty profile
  • Feedstock screening — slags, ashes, cement fines, mine tailings and other alkaline residues
  • Preliminary engineering — process routes, mass and energy balance, sizing envelope
  • Modular design support — skid and container concepts matched to the emission source
  • Monitoring & verification — instrumentation to evidence capture and permanent storage

Service 03

IoT, Edge AI and Digital Monitoring

Development and integration of IoT platforms, sensors, edge-computing systems and real-time monitoring solutions for industrial, environmental and agritech applications.

Industrial environments punish fragile hardware and optimistic connectivity assumptions. We design for the conditions that actually exist on site: electrical noise, temperature swings, patchy networks and maintenance teams who need the system to be diagnosable.

  • Sensing & acquisition — process, energy, emissions and environmental instrumentation
  • Connectivity — industrial protocols, LPWAN, cellular and gateway architecture
  • Edge computing — local inference, filtering, buffering and control close to the asset
  • Platform integration — secure data pipelines into existing SCADA, historian or cloud stacks
  • Visualisation — role-based dashboards, alerting and automated reporting

Within service 03

Earth observation and remote sensing

Satellite data is part of how we monitor, not a separate offering. Where a measurement is better taken from orbit than from a mast, we take it from orbit.

Downstream space data, applied to industrial and environmental questions

Berzen has working expertise in Earth observation data — selecting the right mission and product for a question, processing imagery into defensible indicators, and fusing those indicators with in-situ sensor streams so that one corroborates the other.

  • Baseline and change detection — land cover, vegetation condition, surface water, bare ground and site activity tracked consistently over years
  • Environmental monitoring — thermal signatures, dust and turbidity proxies, and catchment-scale indicators around industrial operations
  • Material and resource mapping — stockpiles, tailings, quarry and residue areas quantified across sites that are impractical to instrument individually
  • Fusion with ground data — satellite indicators calibrated against plant instrumentation, producing a single reconciled record
  • Positioning — GNSS for asset tracking, survey control and geo-referenced inspection
  • Copernicus / Sentinel-1 & 2
  • Optical & SAR
  • Multispectral indices
  • Time-series analysis
  • GIS integration
  • GNSS
SERVICE 04

Data Analytics & Algorithmic Systems

Real-time data processing, baseline modelling, predictive analytics, anomaly detection and performance optimisation for connected industrial processes.

  • Streaming ingestion and data quality control
  • Process baselines and normalised KPIs
  • Predictive maintenance and failure precursors
  • Anomaly, drift and excursion detection
  • Set-point and schedule optimisation
SERVICE 05

Sustainable Energy & Carbon Management

Support for energy-efficient operations, greenhouse-gas monitoring, digital MRV, emissions-reduction planning and the adoption of scalable Net-Zero technologies.

  • Energy and GHG baselining by process line
  • Continuous emissions and consumption monitoring
  • Digital measurement, reporting & verification
  • Efficiency and electrification opportunity mapping
  • Decarbonisation roadmaps and reporting support
SERVICE 06

Technology Commercialisation & Scale-Up

Assessment of manufacturability, market potential, investment requirements, partnership models and go-to-market strategies for innovative high-tech and low-carbon solutions.

  • Manufacturability and design-for-cost review
  • Market sizing and competitive positioning
  • CAPEX/OPEX modelling and investment case
  • Partnership, licensing and consortium models
  • Go-to-market and adoption strategy

Engagement models

Ways to work with us

Scoped to the decision you need to make, not to a fixed retainer.

Feasibility study

A bounded technical and commercial assessment with a clear recommendation — proceed, adapt, or stop. Usually the right first step.

Design & delivery

Preliminary engineering, monitoring architecture, integration and commissioning support through to a validated system on the live process.

Innovation partner

Technical and commercialisation partner in R&D consortia and funded projects — work packages, pilot instrumentation and exploitation planning.

Deliverables

What you actually receive

Every engagement produces documents and systems you own and can hand to a third party — an engineering team, an investor, an auditor or a funding body.

Technical reports

Feasibility findings, process options, mass and energy balances, and the assumptions behind every number.

Design documentation

Process flow diagrams, sizing envelopes, instrumentation schedules and integration requirements.

Working systems

Commissioned monitoring, dashboards and reporting pipelines running against your live process data.

Commercial analysis

Cost models, market assessment, investment requirement and the route to replicate the result elsewhere.

Next step

Send us the problem. We will send back the plan.

A short call is usually enough to establish whether the objective is feasible, what evidence exists already, and what the first phase should cost.
